  • "Maybe we shouldn't . . ."

"Never mind.  Let's do it."  So went the discussion the big girls and I had about April Fools Day and the trick they wanted to play on their dad.    I'm still laughing about it.  You will either find it hysterically funny or you will seriously worry about our sense of humor.  Brian having come in from an appointment found me drying Emrie's hair in her room.  He sat on the bed telling me, well, things he needed to tell me.  Katie and Gracie snuck downstairs, with a bottle of ketchup.  Katie smeared it on her nose and face.  Gracie blacked a couple of her teeth with eyeliner.  They started screaming and crying wildly.  Brian looks at me with his eyebrows raised.  Trying hard not to burst out laughing, I say, "You better go!  Sounds like something is wrong!"  Brian, does not handle blood or serious injuries well at all.  So, he really panics.  He takes off running to them.  The girls are now upstairs screaming more loudly and wildly than ever.  Upon seeing Katie with "blood" on her face, he shrieks, "What happened?"  Too which they reply simultaneously, "APRIL FOOLS!"  Brian busted out laughing hysterically.  He laughed for ten minutes.  I am quoting his words, "That was the best April Fools anyone has ever got on me!"  It was either the best joke played on him or he was just so relieved that we wouldn't be spending the day in the Emergency Room.
