goalsetting

  • Goals for 2013

You'll never achieve the goals you don't set.  I want to always be a goal-setter.  I fully believe that in order to get where you want to go, you have to have a map (aka steps/goals to get you there).  You don't set out on a journey and accidentally arrive at the desired location.  Setting goals closes the gap between where you are and where you want to be.  Who you are and who you want to become.  If we don't set goals, our minds become stagnant.

Reading at Money Saving Mom has persuaded me to share my goals for this year.  So, if you are reading this, you've become my accountability.  :)   I'll keep you posted during the year how it's coming along.

    Spiritual Goals

    • Read through the Bible in a year using this plan. (I've read through it before using similar plans.  My goal is to read a different translation each time.  I'm on my third translation.)
    • Give more.  (Plan to sponsor children in a Guatemala orphanage; Community Outreaches through our church, quarterly.)
    • Pray more.  (Continue to meet with our ladies' prayer group, God's Girlz; Leading a Prayer Group at our church during our annual Awakening this month)
    • Fast more.  (Awakening 2013)

    Personal Goals

    • Run in a 5K race. (I'm currently doing Couch to 5K.  I'm on week 4.  Hoping to run first 5K in February.)
    • Complete the Couch to 10K program.
    • Lose 36 pounds (In 2012, I lost all my pregnancy weight plus 20 lbs.)
    • Read 52 books/ebooks (I've chosen several books already.  Reading list forthcoming.)

    Financial Goals

    • Continue eliminating debt. (Very nearly debt free except mortgage!)
    • Keep working on our six month emergency fund.

    Family Goals

    • The Chief wants to graduate college by July!  We are so thrilled to finally realize this dream for him to complete his bachelors degree!  It's a big goal though. He has quite a few classes to complete and a couple of huge projects. (Doing all I can to support him and cover him in prayer!)
    • Mission trip for Katie.  (She and the Chief are planning to travel to the Guatemala orphanage we are going to be supporting financially.)
    • Our four younger kids have never been to Disney.  (Planning to do at least a one day admission to Magic Kingdom.)

So here I go.  I've set my goals.  Going to break them down in bite-size pieces.  Going to follow through with those bite-size pieces and re-evaluate my progress each month.  Setting goals is the way to turn imaginations into memories!  Thanks for reading!  :)
