    Mother

    You painted no Madonnas

    On chapel walls in Rome,

    But with a touch diviner

You lived one in your home.

    You wrote no lofty poems

    That critics counted art,

    But with a nobler vision

You lived them in your heart.

    You carved no shapeless marble

    To some high soul design,

    But with a finer sculpture

You shaped this soul of mine.

    You built no great cathedrals

    That centuries applaud,

    But with a grace exquisite

    Your life cathedraled God.

Had I the gift of Raphael

    or Michelangelo,

    Oh, what a rare Madonna

    My mother's life would show.

    Happy Mother's Day!

For my dear friends who are waiting to become mothers, I pray that God will bless you soon.

God remembered Rachel, and God heeded her and opened her womb.  She conceived and bore a son, and said, "God has taken away my reproach"; and she named him Joseph, saying, "May the Lord add to me another son!"

Hannah wept much and prayed to the Lord.  And she made a vow, saying, "O Lord Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life."  It came about in due time, after Hannah had conceived, that she gave birth to a son' and she named him Samuel, saying, "Because I have asked him of the Lord.  I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.  So now I give him to the Lord.  For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord."  The Lord was gracious to Hannah, she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters.

I will hope and pray with you as you wait.  (Read the testimony of this mom, she guest posted here http://www.biblicalwomanhoodonline.com/blog.htm  and her new website is here http://www.lifeasmom.com/)
