Katie's prayer...
Our ten year old, Katie keeps a prayer journal. She gives it to me to look over from time to time. I give her writing credit for our homeschool.
Katie has been looking forward with great anticipation to our Pastor's youngest daughter (who is also her gymnastics coach) getting married. Melody's wedding was yesterday. Katie's prayer the night before the wedding went something like this,
"Dear Lord, please be with Melody and Justin tomorrow. Please help her dad to not be upset. Please help him to not act like the dad in the movie on TV (Father of the Bride). It's funny on TV but not real life."
I'm happy to say the Lord granted her request. The wedding was beautiful and our Pastor (father of the bride) behaved wonderfully.
Now, Katie's dad. Hmmm. That might be turn out a little different. But we'll let him
worry aboutconsider it no sooner than twelve or fifteen years from now, lol.Joking aside, we do consider it now. When Katie (she's my first baby) was born, an older lady from our church advised me to begin praying for the spouses of my children even while my children are infants. I didn't want to think about my baby growing up or marrying for that matter. I was just getting started for goodness sake. There'd be plenty of time for praying about spouses.
As months went by, though, the Lord laid it upon my heart. How could I pray for her future and not pray for her future spouse? So, I do. With each of my children, I pray for the salvation of their spouses and for God's guidance and protection. After all, someday they'll be my children, too.
Ruth 1:16 "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God."
