On This Day, 3 Years Ago
Three years ago today, I was driving our suburban behind the Chief in a U-haul with nearly all our worldly belongings.
In 36 months, I've learned a thing or two about living in the Lowcountry.
1. Floating tree limbs resemble alligators.
2. I'm afraid of alligators and floating tree limbs.
3. Spring comes early.
4. Summer is H. O. T.
5. It really is the slow south. Sssssss-llllllllll-oooooo-wwwww.
6. Strawberries, peaches, and watermelon taste good in South Carolina.
7. All bugs bite (even tiny little ants and gnats).
8. South Carolina bugs have a taste for Emrie and Josiah.
9. A swimming pool is necessary for suriviving 100°+ heat index with children.
10. Hot summers and mild winters = freezing to death at 50°.
11. I like having a flat yard.
12. I like running and cycling (when my bike isn't broke) on my flat road. I had no idea I could like running or cycling.
13. I don't miss my coat. At all.
14. I don't miss snow. My kids think they miss snow. They've forgotten the times it took 45 minutes to bundle them up to play in the snow only to unbundle them 15 minutes later.
15. There are many blessings to enjoy when we trust God's plan for our life. Be faithful to serve him and find the joy in where God has you and in what God has you doing.
"I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure... You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Ps 16:8-11
