  • Crockpot: Blueberry Cobbler

This recipe was just the perfect thing for a lazy Saturday afternoon.  Everybody was working away on their own little home projects.  I threw this in the crockpot and it cooked itself.  I was free to tickle a baby.  Bonus:  makes my house smell oh so yummy!

2 8-oz tubes, refrigerated biscuits, separated and quartered

    1/3 c. brown sugar

    1/2 t. cinnamon

    1/3 c. butter, melted

21-oz. can blueberry pie filling (substitute any fruit or any pie filling)

Spray a slow cooker with non-stick vegetable spray and layer one package of biscuits inside.  In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.  Sprinkle half the mixture over biscuit layer.  Spread half the pie filling (or fruit) over top.  Layer remaining biscuit, brown sugar mixture, and pie filling (fruit).  Cover and cook on high setting for 2-1/2 to 3 hours.  Serve with ice-cream.

Variations:  I have made the recipe with blueberry pie filling (yum!) and we tried it a second time with frozen peaches (another yum!).  Looking forward to trying blackberries and cherries!  This is a great fruit cobbler recipe.  Hope you enjoy!

  • 5 Things I've Learned Since Becoming a Mom of 5

    1.  People look at you crazy when you tell them you have 5 kids.

    2.  When people say, "You have your hands full," you can respond by saying "I only have one hand full."

    3.  You can say, "be quiet" all you want.  It's never gonna be quiet in your house.  Ever.

    4.  Quiet is overrated.

    5.  Five times the love.  Five times the joy.  Five times the laundry...

  • Easter Morning 2012

"He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.Matthew 28:6

Praise the Lord!  Praise the Lord!

  • Egg Coloring 2012

We continued our pajama/apron wearing egg coloring tradition

The chubster slept through it all.

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many."  Matthew 20:28

He gave his life for me.  Unworthy never be able to thank him enough me.

  • Egg Hunt 2012

LHC (Lighthouse Church) hosted a community egg hunt last Saturday.  Two of my littles had the most fun running all over.

On our Easter weekend agenda is two performances of "The King, the Warrior, and the Cross", egg coloring, our Resurrection Eggs, a birthday party for a friend, and our Judah's birthday.

We are going to be busy in the most wonderful way!

"Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God."  Ephesians 5:2

So thankful for the sacrifice he made for us!

  • March Pinning and Doing

I was able to try three of my pins in March.  (Love Pinterest but what's the point in pinning if I don't try the things I pin? winky)

All recipes.  March was a cooking mood for me.

This orange julius recipe tasted like an orange julius.  Very good.

The butterfinger pie is super easy and super good!  Totally recommend trying it.  Note:  I did not use as much candy bar as the recipe called for.

The chicken enchilada soup was a huge hit with my tribe!

March pinning and doing = Success!

Now, what to try in April?

  • Josiah: 3 months

Grown by leaps and bounds since last month.  Curious to see just how much at the next well-care visit.

Smiles, laughs, gurgles, coos, squeals, blows bubbles, and growls.

Rolls over in both directions but doesn't particularly care for being on his tummy (reflux).    Starting to rear up which means we have to watch him closely in his swing to keep him from tumbling out.  (Our swinging days are numbered.)

Grasping toys and bringing them to mouth.  Favorite toys for now is linky doos and the little puppy in the picture below.

Doesn't mind big sisters "posing" him for pictures (see above).

The pacifier has utterly been rejected.  Didn't take to thumb sucking either.

Sleeping is improving but still has mom and dad pulling all-nighters from time to time.  Note:  Mom and Dad are too old for all-nighters.

His siblings still fuss over whose turn to hold him.  He is all smiles and chuckles for them.

He has discovered his toes but just can't seem to get them to his mouth.  Yet.

Loving those little baby legs with lots of rolls.  Can't get enough neck kisses.  And that toothless grin will brighten even the worst grouch's day.

  • 4th Blogiversary

It's been four years today since I started posting on this little blog.

I wish I had some fabulous giveaways to offer!

I wish I could send every commenter a memento!

What I can do is offer up some encouragement.  As I look back through my posts (four years!), I realize that life is full of ups and downs.  It's easy to read someone's blog and think they live a perfect fairytale life when reality happens to all of us.  Take a minute or two and watch this video.  May it reignite your passion to keep living life!
