  • Great Joy

    100_2959

And the angel said unto them, "Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, Which shall be to all people. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David A Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, Lying in a manger.
    -Luke 2:10-12

  • Naughty or Nice?

Did you know Santa publishes his naughty or nice list online now?  Go to  Santa’s Naughty or Nice web site, enter your name, and find out which list you are on.

Here's what Santa had to say about me,

Nice, but with a few naughty marks. Neatness needs improvement. Behavior has been good sometimes, not so good other times. Manners could still use some attention. Was very nice last Monday.

You know, I think a lot of people think God is like Santa Claus.  They think He sits on his throne up in heaven and looks down to see if we are being naughty or nice.  If we do more nice things than naughty things, we'll be on the "good" list.

None of us can earn the "good" list.

And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:18-21

It's a good thing, too.  Seeing how, I made the nice list last Monday and it's all gone down hill from there.  lol

  • Holiday Game for Those Family Gatherings

    snowmangame

    Secret Snowman at Family Fun

Players try to stick the snowman on a person's back without them noticing.  When that person realizes the snowman is on them, they have to stick it on someone else's back.  Don't worry about the snowman staying on just one back for hours - giggling kids are sure to give the person a clue before too long.  Try to have the snowman visit everyone's back by the end of the day.

Variation:  Use a turkey for Thanksgiving.

This game made for lots of laughter and interaction for the adults, big kids, and little kids at our Thanksgiving dinner last year.  We made our turkey out of paper.  This year he needs to be card stock or foam.  He got a little mangled.

  • Christmas Cruisin'

    Only 37 days til Christmas!

I refuse to participate in the frantic hustle and stressful bustle.  I'm Christmas Cruisin'.

Everyday, I'm spending 15 min doing different tasks that will bring peace and joy to my home.  I Love Flylady's Cruising Through the Holidays!  She pretty much keeps me organized.  I don't feel pressure to religiously do everything on her lists.  I use them as a guideline and pick and choose the things that will work for my tribe.

Our Christmas Cards arrived this week.  I ordered early to take advantage of the 50% off and free shipping at Vista Print.  I'm going to start addressing them so they'll be ready to mail Dec. 1.

The kids loved making Reindeer Cookies last year.  We'll be doing that again.  I added the needed items to my shopping list.

Going to make the Christmas Cinnamon Rolls.  These will keep in the freezer until Christmas morning.

With the current economic conditions, we'll not be doing a lot of shopping.   We live in God's economy.  As good stewards we don't spend money we don't have on Christmas presents.  Our gift giving tradition is gold, frankincense, and myrrh

So tell me, how are you getting ready for the holidays?  Recipes?  Links?  What are you giving your parents (my great dilemma)?  Come on, shaaaaare...
