  • Day at the Lake (Remembering)

Three years ago today, we were cruising around South Holston Lake with these cuties.

It's fun to look back on my blog and remember what I was doing one, two, or three years ago today.  Most def a blogging perk.

  • Plenty of Silliness

There is always plenty of silliness to go around the Trent Tribe.  The Chief took Katie to Alabama with him recently.  Katie's job was to video and take pictures.  (She did a lot of hard sweaty work too.)  The Chief discovered a bonus video on the camera as he was editing.

It's a long drive to Alabama.

  • Picnicing with the Chief

The Chief planned a picnic lunch for us last week.  (He also demonstrated the many uses of spanish moss.)

Not even rain could dampen our spirits. (Sun and rain simultaneously.)

After all, the picnic shelter was covered and our sandwiches were saved from sogginess!  Picnic success.

  • Charles Towne Landing

A couple weeks ago we snuck off to Charleston with my mom and stepdad for a visit to Charles Towne Landing.  I can't recommend it enough.  We had the most wonderful day seeing the animals in the Animal Forest, learning about long ago (Charles Towne in 1670)  through living history, touring the Adventure cargo vessel, learning about and investigating an onsite archaeological dig, and the beautiful gardens!  The weather was perfect.  The staff friendly and helpful!  If ever you find yourself in the Charleston area, GO!

The reflection of the camera makes it appear that the otter is taking a picture of Gracie!

In some of the reviews we read, people were complaining about the amount of walking.  They do have shuttle services but the day was so beautiful and there was so much to see!  A sweet friend of mine pointed out that a lot of walking only means a larger habitat for the animals.  Yay for large animal habitats!

  • Easter Sunday Baptism

Our daughter Emrie has been expressing a desire to be baptized for a while now. She was certain that she wanted to take this step in her faith. She felt an urgency in her heart. Here's the video for friends and family far away.

Eight people were baptized on this Easter Sunday. It was a joyous celebration!

I must add one last thing, for the grandparents:

  • Girls Weekend

A couple weekends ago, my Katie and I slipped away for our first ever girls weekend.  We drove up to NC to attend a conference with some friends we hadn't seen in almost a year.  Yay for old friends!  It was fun, it was uplifting, it was exhausting, it was an early 13th birthday present.  THIRTEENTH!  Yeah, that's freaking me out a little bit.
