Financial Goals for 2009
In case you haven't heard, Brian and I are in a FPU class at our church. Brian and Duane Garrett are coordinating it. They are determined to bring Financial Peace to LCF, like it or not.
Well, I like it a lot. Financial Peace is near and dear to my heart and I can't help sharing.
So, for all of you who said you wish you could be in the class but...
Here's some freebie info just for you. Nothing can take the place of going to a class. You need the accountability and all that good stuff but until you can join a class here are some proactive steps to take.
Save a $1000 emergency fund! (This is so easy! Sell, sell, sell... Books you've already read? Clothes that don't fit? Collectibles that don't mean as much to you anymore? Give up that Starbucks coffee. Give up that lunch out. That's right, pack it.)
Make a budget! Fine online tools to help here.
Read Dave's books. The library has them.
For those of you thinking of joining a class, it's not too late. Brian is ordering student kits this week. Our church gets a discount. Get the entire kit for $99. It has a lot of materials. An overwhelming amount of materials. Which will be much less overwhelming over the remaining twelve weeks! Attend class on Monday's at 7:00pm.
Here is my personal reason to be so excited, "FPU CHANGES YOUR LIFE!" It really does. Brian and I have a personal goal for 2009 to complete baby steps 2 and 3! What does that mean? That means we will be debt free except our mortgage and we will have six months of living expenses saved! I told you, "FPU CHANGES YOUR LIFE!" It RAWKS!

We are starting a Financial Peace University "class" at C-Health and I am super excited!! I cannot wait! I have told everyone about Dave Ramsey and let everyone borrow my book to read (Total Money Makeover). I will be praying for your "class" as well as ours! So excited!
@Stacie Crabtree - That's wonderful! We all need financial peace. And we're taking proactive steps to get it. Let's hope we can get bunches of others to join us.
