  • Table Talk

My kids (and the Chief) love when we have "table talk" during dinner.  We've been all fancy with questions in card form and we've kept it simple using a printed list of questions.  We may ask a single question and each reply, or have someone pose a question to whomever he or she chooses.

I recently discovered a book of questions called KidChat by Bret Nicholaus and Paul Lowrie (The Question Guys™).   Yeah! It's on my wish list.  The questions are so creative and require no prep or time consumption (searching the net) on mom's part.

If something besides rain or snow could fall occasionally from the sky, what would you want it to be?  (Example: Jellybeans)

If you could be shrunk down to one inch tall for a day, what do you think would be the most exciting place to explore?

It's neat to pose interesting questions that give insight into the personality of each child and parents too.

If you could pick anyone to live next door to you, who would it be?

Or if you were an animal, what would you be and why?

    And the all time fave,

If you had a million dollars how would you spend it?

  • Oh, that's great! I love questions, and I will have to get that book and use it with my rapidly growing grandwonders! They seem to struggle a bit with answering ("I dunnoooo" is getting old!), so maybe if I ask more clever questions, they'll have answers!

  • what a great way to stay in tune with your kidders! i can see something like that being quite valuable as our kids get older...thanks for the heads up!

  • I love it! I used to do this with questions in old Highlights magazines, but these sound even better.

  • WONDERFUL! Why couldnt I have had that when my boys were small! Even tho we always had the questions and such, that would have been fun!

  • Hey, appreciate it for taking the effort to do this. I like your webpage, although it took a sluggish reader like me some time to via throughout entire page and the many comments.
