The things people say... (when your pregnant)
I have a confession.
I am terrible at pregnancy. Nothing life threatening. Just really uncomfortable.
To make matters worse, I'm short. Short pregnant people look big. As in having a nurse anesthetist say to me just before delivering my last baby, "You are the biggest pregnant woman I have ever seen and I've seen a lot of pregnant women. Bless your heart." Cause if you add "bless your heart" at the end it makes it okay, right?
I can’t help but want to wear a t-shirt that says, yes, all these children are mine, yes, I am pregnant, no it is just one baby, but yes, I am short and big, yes, my husband and I know what causes this, and yes, we have satellite tv.
I'm just kidding. Mostly.
There is an even darker side of this whole pregnancy thing and it is something I heard a minister's wife (on the radio a long time ago) call the "spirit of hate" for the unborn child. We see that spirit of hate demonstrated in the killing of the unborn. Heartbreaking. It is often directed toward expectant mothers, as well. When someone reacts negatively to a pregnancy announcement or the site of a blossoming belly. "Oh Lord. Like they need another one" and other unkind words. We speak curses over moms and the unborn. Despising the very life that God has blessed her with. Now that is a scary thought. Cursing God's blessing.
This same minister's wife (I really wish I remembered her name) encouraged the blessing of the unborn. When you see an expectant mother, you proclaim blessing over her and her unborn child. You speak blessing over God's handiwork. Never curse. Never doubt. Never question. God is knitting a miracle in that womb.
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." Ps. 139:13-16
"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!" Deut. 30:19
Let's choose life. Let's choose blessing for the unborn and their moms.

I couldn't help but laugh at your "Bless your heart" comment. Yes...blessing your heart makes an insult ok. =)
Ok, did I miss something? Are you expecting?
I completely agree with all that is in your post! Having a baby is such a blessing.
And why do people ask about TVs? As if the only thing you know what to do with yourself if there is no TV is run to the bedroom? Hahaha.
There was a lady that used to own a pizza place by our house. Every single time my husband or I would go in, she would ask us if we had a TV.
Happy Wednesday to you. =)
@Elizabethmarie_1 - Check out this post from last week! http://trenttribe.xanga.com/750008987/five--our-big-news/
The TV thing is pretty ridiculous. Obviously there's nothing worth watching. ah-hahaha...
Choose life! Love it. Love kids!
We once had our 4 kids and three extras with us and when somebody asked us if they were ALL ours I said "no but wouldn't it be great if they were". Not exactly the response they were looking for but I wanted them to know that those kids were special to us...
Happy Wednesday~
I know, my dil complains about this all the time. They have 4 girls but people are acting like they have 14. She also complains when people just come up and rub her pregnant belly! People are so strange.....I dislike that they can not be happy for the blessing He has given you.
I totally understand!!! My daughter-in-love is 4'11" and is pregnant with our 5th grand. VERY pregnant. The oldest is 6. You know all the comments and the looks, including disgusted ones, I'm sure. Plus, she usually wears a skirt for several reasons. Yes, she's tired, yes, she knows what causes this, yes, she knows how to stop it, no, there's no TV and yes, they love "doing it" and yes, they love children and yes, they are really awesome parents and yes, we do help them alot and yes, we're all excited. So, bpththththt to the world who thinks children are money sucking nuisances who take up space and energy. God help them. We love our babies, big and small, no matter what.
@celebration_of_life - That's a great response! I can imagine the look on their faces. @oldfatgramma - The belly rubbing is very much an invasion of personal space.
@Richgem - I love it! "bpththththt to the world" So funny!
Blessings to your daughter-in-love. When is she due?
Tara is due between the end of August and Labor Day. She's hoping for the end of August! ( 8
I love the Tee shirt idea! LOVE IT!!!!! I have already been asked if we are planning on being the next Duggar family. It really annoyed me, other things that annoy me... My word, you are busy. I always feel like a pitbull on the end of a chain when someone says something stupid.
At 5 ft I can identify with being short and preggy and uncomfortable and not being able to reach the second shelf of my cabinets or the back of the top shelf in the fridge!
Congrats on the new precious wonderful works!
Congratulations! All babies are blessings, that some rare people cannot comprehend. When I was pregnant, everyone kept telling me, "I'll bet you can't wait to have that baby out! When I was pregnant, I just couldn't wait till it was over!" I never wanted to have my baby out earlier than he was supposed to be, and it used to frustrate me that they just assumed that pregnancy was a bother to me. I got so tired of it, I used to contemplate wearing one of those T-shirts that said, "Shh! Don't talk to me! Can't you see I'm trying to smuggle out a basketball?"
