  • Be Blessed

If I want to be blessed, I must first bless others.  It's a biblical principle.

You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.  - Zig Ziglar

God blesses those who continue to bless other people.  Each time I bless another person, two people are blessed in the process, that person and me.

I was reminded of this as I sat and listened to a wise friend share with me recently.  I am so thankful for the people God places in our lives who can speak into our hearts and we can know with confidence that they are speaking from their time of walking with the Lord.  My heart willingly receives.

As I listened to her share from her own experiences, her mistakes, her lessons, her dreams, her heartbreaks, it became resoundingly clear that God uses all things to good.  Romans 8:28 is true!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28

I came away from that conversation knowing that God is at work in my life even when circumstances tempt me to believe differently.  God is not nearly as concerned with my happiness as he is my holiness.

So, if we find ourselves stuck in a certain position, situation, circumstance, job, house, health condition, town, state, country, school, whatever... maybe it is God's will that we are stuck there.  Maybe just maybe he has a purpose and a plan.  Not maybe.  He does.  He DOES have a plan.

If there is something you long for or something you desire greatly, don't invest your emotions or thoughts in being jealous of people who have those things.  Instead, invest your emotions and thoughts into blessing others.  At first you might even have to force yourself to do what is right out of obedience to God but soon you'll be sincere.  You'll enjoy blessing others.  Blessing will become your second nature.  And then?  God will bless you!

  • Amen. good words for me today! yep...been one of "those" days. ;)

  • Really like this! I made a really difficult decision this week regarding my business - and within an hour something else happened that took me by surprise. My husband said "Its a sign!!" and he's right. . .  .He has a plan and although I may not understand it at the time, eventually everything falls into place and I'm left smiling in wonder!! Blessing others is a wonderful way to take the focus off myself and think good towards others. . . think I'll pass this line of thinking on to our children! :)

  • Amen.  Great post.

  • It's funny that thought has been running through my head a lot lately.  Though the corresponding thought is how much of this "trial" a result of reaping what I have sown (another clear Bible principle) - ie consequences of sin?

  • Reminds me of the saying, In order to have friends you first have to BE one.  Love this post. Made me really stop and think. (((hugs))) Thank you for sharing!
