  • Whatcha doing this summer?

I've lived in the Low Country for two years now and I was convinced that it is always summer here.  But thanks to tropical storm Beryl, it hasn't felt much like summer.  Rain, rain, and more rain!  My flowers and our yard love it.  Come the super hot days of July, I will long for this abundance of rain.

I'm working on our summer list.  If you don't live life on purpose, the days get away.  I want to be sure we get in lots of summer fun and memories, so, my summer list is in the works.

Things that should be included?  Picnics, kite flying, beach reading, sand castle building, ballgame watching, fireworks...

How about you?  Whatcha doing this summer?  Give me some inspiration.  ;)

  • We're putting in a garden and thinkin' about putting in a pool. I'm just about ready for a long road trip to I don't know where! I'd like to just take off and go somewhere.

Also thought about a float trip, a trip to the zoo, going to the big city for a weekend getaway....................so many different ideas, so little time and money! LOL

  • @SealedbyGrace - You are really good at this.  I like your thinking and I'm hoping you get that pool!  :D

  • Good question! I'll be doing more photoshoots, working out, continuing to help my parents, keeping an eye on my hubby,  trying to keep up with my kids' work schedules, going to doctor appoinments, playing with the Grands now and then, celebrating 3 birthdays, and hopefully getting to stay at a nice hotel in the city for a night or two, although hubby's not at ALL keen on that idea. He hates the Phoenix heat. But, I need to get out of "Dodge" once in a blue moon! I think I should kidnap SealedbyGrace and take her with me!

  • @TrentTribe - it's probably not right to pray for it, but I have been. I want a pool so bad!
I love summer and have tons of ideas on things to do.

  • lets see, lots of hiking (we live near acadia national park) kayaking, swimming in the lake, picking wild blueberries on the mountaintops, going for walks to pick wild raspberries, picnics thrown in all of the above, tending my garden, helping jeff build a new woodshed, working on homemade christmas gifts. welcoming a new grandson & spending as much time as possible with both grandsons!--karen

  • OH, I love your message,  IF you don't live life on purpose~what an amazing thought!  Love it!

ohmygoodness that grabs me! i was thinking this week how gulp. summer starts next week for us when school lets out...and i haven't made my list yet! :) i'd love to read yours forsome inspiration! off the top of my head is the normal stuff like swimming, picnics, running, gardening, reading to the kids and day trips. then there's organizing a new shuffle of everyday chores, cooking lessons for even those that don't want them, and a big road trip this summer as well.

and God. if i am not carefully intentional...is He just relegated to a part of my day? a lil check mark on my list? or r.e.a.l.l.y. a priority and my constant companion?!!!

  • I love your phrase -- about living life on purpose.  I am also making a summer list if I could just catch my breath a little from the end of May.  Hoping to do lots of trips to the beach, get involved in the summer reading program at the library, lots of walks and trips to the park, play dates with friends, backyard camping & lightning bug catching, and we are getting a lot more ideas from Familyfun.com and their badges of fun that they promote.  Each month has different theme: http://familyfun.go.com/badges-of-fun/ -- This next month we are going to be doing backyard fun-- they also have been really into water color painting so I was thinking today that we may host an art show one Friday evening for our family fun night and invite friends and family for snacks and to view the gallery.  How fun would that be??
